After participating in walkouts this school year to raise awareness against gun violence in schools, one student at Margaret Allen Middle School in Nashville, TN, asked: “Can’t we do something more permanent?” Therefore, Margaret Allen Middle School created the “What About Us?” Project to act as a permanent walkout.
They painted the fence at their school to honor and remember all of those who have lost their lives in school as a result of gun violence since Columbine in 1999. Even though they are physically no longer here, they will always be here with us, and they will have a voice to speak out for themselves – as well as for students to come. Let’s come together and spread the love. #WhatAboutUsProject @WhtAbtUsProject
