What Lies Ahead for PASS?

October 22, 2025|Partner Alliance for Safer Schools

A Letter from Chuck Wilson, board chairman for PASS
Safe Schools Week, 2025

Dear Valued Partners and Colleagues,

As we conclude Safe Schools Week, I’d like to share what lies ahead for PASS. Our three-year strategic plan, developed in 2024, is well underway, with many action items and deliverables already accomplished.

One major milestone in our progress is the search for a new executive leader. PASS has long been guided by an all-volunteer team of school administrators, educators, practitioners, and industry leaders — but that is no longer a sustainable model. A search committee is now working to identify a leader who will guide PASS into the next phase of its journey.

In addition, PASS will soon introduce a certificate program designed for all stakeholders. This program will evaluate the knowledge of school safety professionals, educators, and administrators on the essentials of the PASS Guidelines and Checklists. Companion training modules, based on Revision 7, will supplement the educational aspects of this exciting new initiative. PASS members can also anticipate a more user-friendly digital version of the PASS Guidelines and Checklist in the coming year.

The expansion of our volunteer network has produced outstanding results. We now have more than 85 volunteers working across nine committees and councils to educate, inform, and provide expert guidance on leading practices that make schools safer.

Thanks to our growing list of partners, PASS has achieved financial stability and sustainable 501(c)(3) charitable organization status. We take great pride in keeping all our work results vendor agnostic and in making our Guidelines and other resources completely free to the schools we serve.

Our mission is simple but vital: We protect students and faculty. With the expertise of industry professionals — combined with the everyday challenges and experiences shared by educators and administrators — we have built an organization united by a single mission: to make schools safer.

We welcome you to become part of our team. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, educator, neighbor, sibling, manufacturer, systems integrator, or consultant, please join us in our mission to make schools safe learning environments for our nation’s students. Onward and upward!
