Our first webinar of the trio, “From Concept to Completion,” effectively walks through a practical approach to implementing K-12 security and safety systems, from the beginning stages through final implementation and beyond. It focuses on helping schools move beyond one-time, vendor-driven decisions by first understanding their own unique risks, setting clear priorities, and building a plan that is realistic, fundable, and aligned with a school’s current operations. We’ll also walk through the process after decisions are made, that is, how to move through vendor and contractor selection, procurement, and implementation in a way that is organized, predictable, and grounded in real-world expectations.

The presentation also covers the common roadblocks that cause projects to struggle, including scope gaps, site conditions that don’t match expectations, scheduling conflicts, and limited internal resources to manage the work. Equally important, we’ll address the need to train staff and align policies, procedures, and communication so changes don’t create confusion when systems go live, especially after summer installations.

The second webinar of the series, “What Your Doors Are Telling You About Your Security Readiness,”  is designed to help school administrators, facilities leaders, and safety professionals better understand that doors are more than entry points—they’re often the most crucial line of defense. The presentation draws research from the Texas State University ALERT Center regarding 54 active shooter incidents (2000-25). The video clearly emphasizes that secured doors are a vital defense when appropriate locking hardware and procedures are in place. Panelists also mention a common but frustrating reality—why organizations can “do everything right” and still experience door problems. We’ll also look at practical, tiered approaches to funding door and hardware upgrades to help you align safety goals with budget realities.

Our third and final webinar in the Summer Webinar series, “Digital Mapping and 911,” is designed to unpack how laws like Alyssa’s Law are driving the rapid implementation of panic button technology, and why there is no single, one-size-fits-all solution for every environment. The discussion will explore the real-world challenges behind these fast-moving deployments: systems being rolled out before a full plan is in place, manufacturers and integrators navigating new territory without comprehensive implementation frameworks, and the critical—often underestimated—complexities of integration with Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and 911 centers. We’ll examine why 911 center approval is essential, where coordination commonly breaks down, and how misalignment can undermine even the best intentions.
