PASS Mid-Winter Classic Webinar Series & Companion White Papers now available!
Upon completion of a successful trilogy of school safety webinars, we are pleased to announce that the complete series is now available to rewatch on demand on our YouTube channel, and the companion white papers are now available on the PASS website. We are grateful for the assembly of experts from a wide array of specialties in the security industry, and for the time they took to share their experience—all to better educate our K-12 schools for a wide range of emergency situations.
Our first webinar of the trio, “Compliance in a Confusing World,” effectively breaks down the complex topic of compliance, and what it takes to educate policymakers and stakeholders in advancing legislation, funding, and coordinated implementation that improves school security at both state and federal levels. While many ideas exist to improve the system, this webinar pinpoints actionable steps to petition local representatives for support in obtaining local and federal funding alongside mandated initiatives, such as obtaining wearable emergency response buttons for teachers and school administrators—known as Alyssa’s Law and Alyssa’s Act.

The second webinar of the series, “Demystifying Doors and Door Hardware: Understanding Doors as Life-Safety Systems in K–12 Schools,” is designed to help school administrators, facilities leaders, and safety professionals better understand how crucial a door system is for saving lives in an emergency situation, and how compromised door systems can unintentionally compromise safety. Doors are often taken for granted as simple building components, yet they play a critical role in security, fire, medical, and life safety, accessibility, and daily operations. When doors are altered, blocked or barricaded, or improperly maintained, schools may unintentionally undermine the very safety outcomes PASS promotes.

Our third and final webinar in the Mid-Winter Classic series, “Creating a Culture of Safety in Schools,” is designed to help school administrators, facilities leaders, and safety professionals better understand how to build a sustainable culture of safety in K-12 environments. With advances in artificial intelligence, schools risk becoming overly reliant on technology while overlooking the essential human element. A true culture of safety is achieved when people, processes, and purpose are prioritized alongside technological enhancements. This webinar explores how districts can define their standard of care, clarify first-responder roles within the school community, and align training, leadership, and technology decisions with a shared commitment to safety.
